An audacious goal by Steve Burton gave Crawley a crucial win against fellow strugglers Forest Green Rovers at the Broadfield Stadium.
The striker's cheeky backheel seven minutes before half-time was enough to take the Reds further away from the relegation zone.
The goal capped a good first half by the home side and they were unfortunate not to go into the break with a bigger advantage.
Defender Chris Giles hit the bar with a sidefooted volley on 23 minutes after being left unmarked from a corner. Burton should have converted the rebound but somehow fired wide from five yards.
The big frontman made amends for the miss with a superb piece of opportunism. A shot by Omari Coleman was pushed inches past by keeper Ryan Clarke and, with his back to goal two yards out, he held off the challenge of Darren Jones and slotted in.
Rovers were the better side after the interval and Crawley were left hanging on desperately for the point.
The visitors' best opportunity to equalise came on 74 minutes when Julian Alsop found strike partner Guy Madjo on the edge of the six-yard box with a header.
However, home keeper Phil Smith was quick to react and made a brave stop, diving at the feet of the striker to push the ball clear.
